IAESTE Cyprus National
Committee was established in 1981 and is a full member of the
International Organisation of IAESTE
IAESTE Cyprus
stands for the “International Association for the Exchange of
Students for Technical Experience”, and is the name of the Cyprus
National Committee.
The National Secretariat of IAESTE Cyprus is located at the
Higher Technical Institute (HTI), Nicosia.
Aims and Objectives
IAESTE Cyprus follows
the aims and objectives of the International Organization of
I.A.E.S.T.E. which are:
To provide students at institutions of higher education with
technical experience abroad relative to their studies in the broader
sense.
To promote international
understanding and goodwill amongst the students of all nations.
It is clarified that students
sponsored by IAESTE Cyprus will be hosted for technical
experience by other member countries whereas students sponsored by
other member countries will be hosted by IAESTE Cyprus.
National Committee
The National Committee of
Cyprus is an academic organization attached to the Higher Technical
Institute and has the following members:
• Chairman: The
Director of the Higher Technical Institute, who is responsible for
the smooth operation of the system.
• National Secretary:
The National Secretary is a member of the lecturing staff of the
Higher Technical Institute. He is nominated by the Chairman and his
appointment is ratified by the National Committee.
The National Secretary has an executive role, and supervises all
activities of I.A.E.S.T.E. (Cyprus), including all exchanges.
• Members: The
National Committee is composed of eleven members including the
Chairman and the National Secretary. Eight members represent
academic institutions, the public sector, the private sector,
semi-government organizations, industry and one representative of
the student’s Union.
The National Committee
deals with all matters relating to the operations and the promotion
of the activities of IAESTE Cyprus and with anything else
that will be of benefit to the Organization and to the students
participating in its programs.
